by boat, in a single day, already a thousand miles away.

The clamor on either shore has not yet settled,


and still, I have already passed ten thousand mountains.

 


"The Light Boat Has Passed" together with "Awakening Spring", "Seeking the Hermit", and "Empty Mountain, Fresh Rain" forms the philosophy of life within Eastern culture —

the beauty of new life, the setting out after rain, the searching after setting out,
the loss after searching,

and at last, after ten thousand mountains and rivers,
the single instant of letting everything go.

 

Western culture analyzes the truth of the world. Eastern culture explores and gathers what lies behind that truth.


The West is Yin.
The East is Yang.


The East is Echo.
The West is Spiral.

The highest good is like water — water benefits all things, without contending.

In The Way of Water, I speak with water through my heart, watching and learning, over long stretches of time, the way it flows.

Using the technique of acrylic fluid painting, I walk within the spirit of ink wash.

Here, colors meet, dance together, and merge — becoming, at last, the painting held within my heart.
